Bilderberg and Shreveport News

Good day today in the hot sun, protesting the Bilderberg Group's secret meetings at the Westfield Marriott in Chantilly, VA. International war criminal Henry Kissinger, a man wanted in France and Spain, drove past us in a rush to get into the inner circle of power. All of the living US Presidents were in DC today, too, for some reason.

I met some very cool up and coming indie media folks, like podcaster Adam Kokesh of, and Mark Dice, star of YouTube, stage and screen. Alex Jones was there, of course, the Moses of the movement. We caught up a little.

I met two great fiddle players, for an on-the-spot jam, with me on guitar, when yelling at the limos and SUVs and cops got a little old. At the end of the day I grabbed a megaphone and made a speech. Read up on the Misprision of Treason laws. Secret deals and agreements by government officials are illegal. And misprision of treason is when you observe treason, but do not act.

I didn't think it was good to keep insulting the police who were there. Who knows, I said. They are humans with hearts. Their hearts could be just about to melt. They love truth and freedom as we do. Perhaps they will join us there tomorrow.

My publicist in Berkeley wrote a very snappy little press release for the upcoming June 22 big gig in Shreveport, LA. The tour continues, very soon....

Writer, activist, and investigative journalist Sander Hicks
takes the the road in 80-city book tour in the name the Truth

Shreveport, LA – Writer, activist, and investigative journalist Sander Hicks is back, with Slingshot to the Juggernaut. In a nutshell, it's political, it's spiritual, it's empowering. Here you'll find just as much investigation of the 9/11 cover-up as you will a vision for a future US Government, one that has rejected secrecy, imperialism, and manipulation, and finally embraced a complete love of the truth. Hicks weaves together scientific evidence and personal experience to shed light on the “Official Story” of 9/11.

Sander Hicks will be leading a discussion of his book at Shreveport Barnes and Noble (6646 Youree Dr.) on June 22, at 6 pm. And in Shreveport, it gets personal. Slingshot to the  Juggernaut is in part inspired by a Shreveport local, Dr. David Graham, a Vietnam veteran, medical volunteer, and dentist who died in the name of shedding light on the truth behind 9/11. Upon hearing Graham's tragic and compelling story, Sander and investigative reporter Jordan Green traveled to Shreveport for answers. What they found was cover up after cover up.  Read more about Dr. Graham on Sander's website:, and be sure join in the discussion this June!

New On Blog: Reflections on Occupy and Detroit, and Tour Schedule Info.....
Reflections on Detroit, before I leave. This City is mythical - and it fulfills my expectations. It's one of the most wrecked, addicted, ravaged places on earth. Friday night everyone on the street seemed high on heroin, yet among Occupy circles people were soberly expressing gratitude around a campfire behind a squat. The neighborhood was spacious with big yards, like West Hollywood, LA, but here one in five houses is abandoned.

The Occupy movement has somehow gotten a huge activist space to work with at 5900 Michigan Ave in downtown, and the adjoining block long field of grass is being converted into a patch for strawberries and lettuce and flowers. Local organizers like Jessica work with the local kids and teach them where strawberries come from. They are turning the wastelands into a farm.

I am grateful for the fellow activists I meet - they are so full of light. I sometimes worry about the holes in the schedule for this tour, and yet I always seem to meet the people I need to meet, and they seem to be THE people I was meant to meet. People who ask to see my book, and ask to buy it before I have to do the hustle, or the song and dance. The songs came naturally yesterday in a golden sunset in the garden off Michigan Ave. Despite the junkies and the recent robberies, the kids frolicked and doused each other with a garden hose, drenching each other, while I sang "The Diggers Song." Perfect for the moment: "We work the wasteland in common / and make the wasteland grow / this Earth divided, we will make whole...."  Music has become more and more central to this tour. It elevates the vibration I am sharing.

Here are some gaps in the tour schedule. If you can help out, that would be great.

Soft Skull's SANDER HICKS: first speaking and singing gig ever in the MOTOR CITY!!!! Friday May 25 - 7 PM at the NEW 5900 Michigan Ave Activist Space

Sander is author of the new "Slingshot to the Juggernaut: Total Resistance to the Death Machine Means Complete Love of the Truth." It’s out now from Soft Skull Press.

It's a book about peace and nonviolence through deep investigative journalism about 9/11. The book finds the liberating effects of examining political corruption in the USA.

Sander will read from Slingshot and sing songs about love, hate, police, and wild women on his red acoustic guitar.

Sander personally confronted Dick Cheney, Rudy Giuliani, Eliot Spitzer, the Shreveport FBI, and perpetrators of the anthrax cover-up. But his book has a positive second half, in which he discovers Zen, sobriety, Gandhi, the historical Jesus, and the Truth Party as a way out of a time of secrecy and violence.

I did three hours on Coast to Coast AM with John Wells this week. Two million people heard it and each one of them is getting in touch with me. I thought thus letter was especially warm- so I asked the Sister's permission to publish it, here. Hi Sander, Just heard you on Coast to Coast (I'm not a very regular listener, but felt very strongly I needed to search for it, and your interview appeared- there are no coincidences).  You are doing fantastic work and seem like a very genuine and thoughtful person.  I'm very interested in your books and am ordering asap. I "work" as a medium and intuitive, and everything you say about certain events and current situations feels completely accurate to me, and I've felt/seen/known this for awhile. It is very difficult to translate or explain an intuitive feeling however, so it is wonderful you have done all of the work so that others who are not so convinced can reference something more concrete than an intuitive knowing. I'll be referring people to your books. It is truly a wondrous time to be alive, spiritually, and whatever happens know that your works do matter in the greater scheme of humanity. Every light shining brightly brings illumination even to the very depths of darkness. Blessings to you in the highest degree, and may you always feel the presence of Grace in your life. Best Regards, Melinda

Great gig Monday with poet SPARROW and old friends in the Catskills....

Monday, May 14, 2012

Did two hours on WXOJ Northampton MA with Bob Barron - "Truthquake" Radio on Valley Free Radio. Listen here:

Thanks to Bob for hosting me there at the radio and for the air mattress on the floor last night.

Today is my first full day of touring. I wanted to start it off right. I went outside into the cool fresh air of Northampton, and did some zazen meditation under a maple tree, in the light spring rain. Wonderful. Reading chapter one of my book on air last night, I sometimes wonder if the book is too "spiritual" or even "religious" and will that turn off more people than it will turn on. But that's just my mind with it's constant curveball anxiety.  This is the book I was made to write, and to tour about, and speak out on.

Bob and I are going to go downtown now and visit some bookstores. Maybe we will meet some people. The great 80 City Journey has begun!

The Real 9/11 Trials:

Interview with Sander Hicks Regarding his new play Bronze Star, on the life and death of Dr. David Graham, a slain American whistle-blower.

Sander, New York hasn’t seen you write
a new play in about ten years. Why now? What's up?

Well, I am inspired by the courage and the self-sacrifice of this guy Dr. David Graham. I never met him, but I feel really close to him. Like me, he spent some time trying to put together the puzzle of the 9/11 event. He met two of the so-called "9/11 Terrorists" ten months before 9/11. He tried to do the right thing, and he met with the FBI several times, before 9/11. But then, he died. And not enough people have asked “why?” I have been to his hometown, down in Louisiana, several times. Graham was beloved in his community, he was a great guy. But the newspaper in Shreveport didn't write the obvious: it was weird that Graham died right as his new book on his 9/11 terrorist experience was about to come out. His life is one hell of a drama. There are immense political and social and spiritual forces clashing around this man’s life.

But 9/11? That’s past. Come on, it happened almost 11 years ago.

Look how the "9/11 Trials" are finally under way just now as I write this, down there in the hell of Guantanamo. US Military tribunals, and not due process, for people we have already tortured. From the President's comments, you would think those Arab suspects have already been found guilty. But just the opposite.  We never yet proved these people did 9/11. If you think we did, stop and ask yourself why you think that, and what scientific evidence is it based on?

These trials are happening now, after 11 years of delay and drama. And our play is going up this week as well, after a couple years of working on it. It's a wonderful coincidence. You be the judge - which presentation is more truthful? By telling this story, of the personal journey of one man working alone, this play asks the hard questions about 9/11: how did it happen? Was it allowed to happen, or made to happen? Was it really "Arab terrorists?" Why were there so many strange connections between the "19 terrorists" and the CIA and US Military? Specifically, why did Dr. Graham see them have such access to Barksdale Air Force Base?

The play asks, or touches on, a larger spiritual, or philosophical question. How are our beliefs created, in this age in which the truth itself seems trampled by brutal forces? Why do we believe something, just because the government and media say it’s so? Why cling to a thing that never has never been proven true? Maybe we are under the influence of fear, and not reason? If so, we are not free.

How did 9/11 affect your career as a playwright and publisher?

Wow, it was a double whammy! I was running Soft Skull Press when the Bush biographer Jim Hatfield suddenly showed up dead in a motel room in Arkansas, in July of 2001, two months before 9/11. So, I was shattered by this, like my bones were all shattered at once. I had so much riding on Jim Hatfield, and his Bush book, all my chips were on him. Around that same time, I had won a generous commission from Playwright's Horizons, to do a new play. I thought that I should take some time off from Soft Skull Press, to write that play, (and to investigate Jim's suicide, and do some other things.) The play I wrote for the commission, Sarcoxie and Sealove, was about the anti-corporate globalization movement, told through the lives of a brother and sister who are the children of an IMF economist. It ended in a revolutionary situation, the people rise up, kind of like Occupy. But the good people at Playwright's Horizons felt that the tone of the country was not open to revolutionary situations. It was right after 9/11. The 9/11 event had sort of re-written what was allowable to say, but no one was willing to phrase it in exactly those terms. It's different in NYC, and the USA now. Now, we have the people rising up. People are occupying public space, and that movement right now is trying to figure out the most effective way forward. The time is right for this play.

How is it working with Yana Landowne and the cast?

Yana is so very smart, and also very tough. She’s like my Mom! She cares a lot about taking care of the actors. We have been doing all this on a tight budget, and I’m really grateful. Love her a lot.

The cast is super-talented and committed to the project. No prima donnas, these guys have been around. Most of them I knew already, like Jeffery Emerson who did my play The Breaking Light with me in NYC and LA, back in the 90’s. Bronze Star inspired him to come out of retirement! He is a young, good-looking guy and he plays FBI agent Steve Hegel. Elliot Crown and Lenny Vretholm I know from 9/11 Truth circles. Len is our lead, masterfully playing Dr. Nick Grand, the character based on Dr. David Graham. Elliot is the bad guy, M.J. Khan, who is based on the real-life terrorist “handler” of the same name. The way Elliot is doing it he’s dressing up the part with plenty of color, like a nemesis from a James Bond film, thick accent and everything. Elliot also doubles as Phil Zelikow, in a scene in which a whole different kind of acting is required, the mild-mannered DC bureaucrat, the real “bad guy”, underneath the calm veneer.

Where will the play go up?

We are in a very special space--a cathedral-sized old Lutheran church, at 626 Bushwick Ave, in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
It's a wonderful community of artists and musicians who work in studios in the old school next door, adjacent to this enormous church space, where the pulpit and stained glass are still intact. I built a large stage there, as a part of our deal to do the play. Being in the space so much, I feel all the prayers, the weddings, the funerals, and the newborn baptisms that have been done there over the last hundred years. A new kind of fellowship is coming in now, in the form of art and theatre. A theatre that embraces the political realities of our day, but a theatre that also stays in rhythm with the quest for truth, the spiritual journey that people like Jesus and Buddha invite us to go on. David Graham also invites us to go on this journey. This story, after all is his journey into a valley of darkness. He didn't survive, but in a way, this play keeps his light burning.
